We’ve been captured by Captain Nemo: hear the sonar of the Nautilus, travelling the depths of a sea full of fish and cuttlefish passing us by, and some bigger magical creature -maybe a gigantic narwhal!
In the wetlands, land, fresh water and the sea meet, turning a marginal landscape into a world where each element collaborates in making it seem that everything’s possible. This is actually an overground biophony we reproduced 4 times slower.
We applied a low-pass filter to reveal the characters in our story, from deep to high pitch: we begin by hearing the triplet-groove, created by an unidentified insect; a vibrating cricket chorus pad (Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa and Melanogryllus desertus) follows; and a rhythm section by great green bush-crickets (Tettigonia viridissima) joins in at the end. Night herons (Nycticorax nycticorax) and the big fish leaping out of the waters of the canals also make random appearances.
